Our Mission
You may ask, “Why another race series?” Yeah, no kidding….The Bluegrass Mountain Cup, formerly known as Bluegrass MTB Cup took a change of leadership and direction for the 2020 season. With this, the people behind BGMC wanted to hit the ground running with the best possible series for not only Mountain Bike XC racing, but also Trail Running.
For Mountain Bike racing work with insurance providers that have great coverage and affordable rates for our races. With this, we are able to lower the entry fees, not require memberships to race, and overall get more people to the races. This is huge as there are many costs to racing mountain bikes. We’re doing this all while making the barrier to entry for new racers as affordable and approachable as possible. We look to be inclusive and welcome all skill levels, ages, and genders to come to our races.
With our trail running races, we are giving road runners a second option, high school cross country runners an adventure, ultra runners an easy weekend, and trail runners an outstanding race series. At distances of 5K and 10K we keep it simple so competition is healthy, tight, and fun. It also allows the new runners to push themselves, see what happens, and have fun on some of the most beautiful trails in the state. We did offer this as a series previously, but now we're just offering a few races for folks to come out and have fun at as there are so many running races across the state.
At the end of the day we do this with fun as our main goal. We’re excited to see what comes of the series and our events over the next few years and where people take their racing. The professional with Olympic dreams is no more important than the new runner who just wants to finish the 10K. We’re here for everyone and we’re excited to make memories with you.

Price Breakdown
What are you paying for? Great question.
Entry fees are composed of a few things: A mix of insurance, permit fees, official fees, and race development. We are a for-profit race series. We (Rocketpower Brand Co., the series owner) does this as a way of profit. What do we do with that profit? We put it back into the race. IT’S NOT CHEAP TO HOST GOOD RACES! Know that when you pay a race entry in 2022, you’re making a better event for 2023, and so on.
We also pull these races together with sponsors and local support. Sponsors can greatly help with the landed costs of the event. When sponsors get involved it allows us to spend more money on it being a fun event for the racers. At the same time, as a branding company, we are focused on the most value to our sponsors. If you are interested in bringing this series alive, visit our contact page.

Rules & Regulations
Race Organization:
The Bluegrass Mountain Cup is run by Rocketpower Brand Co., LLC. This organization reserves the right to modify and make amendments as needed for the series and the events. They reserve the right to add, change, and cancel various aspects of the series or events at any time. If any changes need to be made the participants will be notified accordingly. It is the goal of Rocketpower Brand Co., LLC to deliver, not only a fun event, but also a safe event. Please, respect the decisions of the Race Director, Officials, and volunteers.
Refunds & Cancellations:
In the event of weather, sickness (such as COVID-19), fire, or other factors beyond our control we will work to refund, or partially refund your entry fee. This may NOT always be the case. In many cases fees that we (the organization) has to pay are due way before race day, and are non-refundable. In some cases we may be able to credit another race, but not all. By paying for an entry fee you are acknowledging these terms. We hope this does not happen as our goal is that the race is to be held.
Participants & Spectators:
Participants and spectators should know that there are dangers to both trail running and mountain biking. When competing you will be asked to sign a waiver. If under 18 you will need to have a signature from a parent or guardian. We promote a healthy race environment, however, that does not take away from any inherent risks that come with these sports. Being part of the event, you realize that these risks can be extremely serious and sometimes fatal.
Spectators, know that you have a responsibility in keeping our racers safe by staying off the course and keeping an eye out around the race.
Any racer or spectator that acts in a way that can harm themselves or others could be asked to leave the venue.
Trail Etiquette:
When racing, there may come times when you are passing, or being passed. Do this in a safe area where the trail is wide and it gives ALL racers room to be safe during the process. Call out that you're wanting to pass, or that you're moving for someone to pass. Communicate. In the event of aggressive and dangerous moves a racer can be disqualified. We know that an inherent part of racing can be blocking and passing, do so wisely and clean.
Trash will not be tolerated on the course or around the pits. Place trash in bins. If you are caught littering on or off the course you could be disqualified. Aid stations and feed zones are the only acceptable areas you may throw trash on the grounds as we go through and clean up those areas. The rest of the trail is completely off limits to throwing trash, which includes food wrappers, gels, bottles, and more.
Sportsmanship:
Good sportsmanship is a must of all participants and spectators. You're expected to conduct yourself in a positive way that welcomes everyone at the event. If an instance occurs the Race Director or Race Official can disqualify a participant for their behavior.
If it is believed that someone has stepped beyond the line and is conducting themselves in a poor, dangerous, or unpleasant manner, it is to be brought to the attention of the Race Director, Race Official, or Volunteers.
Final Decisions:
In consideration of scoring, points, racing rules, start positions, or the event of an infraction, the Race Director and the Race Officials have the final say in the decisions.
